MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday said that tropical depression “Isang” decelerated as it traversed over the Quirino province.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the weather burau said the following areas were under Signal No. 1: Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, and the northern portion of Nueva Ecija (Lupao, Carranglan, Pantabangan, San Jose City).
The weather bureau also said the southwest monsoon, slightly enhanced by the storm, brought strong to gale-force gusts over Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Burias Island, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Camiguin.
‘Isang’ decelerates as it crosses Quirino, to exit PH Saturday — Pagasa
As of posting time, the weather bureau said “Isang” was expected to traverse Northern Luzon, to emerge over the West Philippine Sea and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning and may reach severe tropical storm status while approaching the waters south of Hainan, China.
The center of “Isang” was seen in the vicinity of Aglipay, Quirino, based on all available data, including those from the Baler Doppler Weather Radar.

It was moving west northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
